Modlin Airport to Warsaw by public transport: shuttle bus, KM train and the Bilet Lotniskowy

Correct as of , checked

In short

  • There is no train to the Modlin terminal: a Koleje Mazowieckie (KM) bus links it with Modlin railway station, a few kilometres away.
  • The KM Bilet Lotniskowy is the ticket for this bus and train trip; its price of 22.40 PLN comes from the 2022 tariff, so check before you travel.
  • The RL train runs from Modlin station through Warsaw to Chopin Airport in about 67 minutes, roughly once an hour.
  • The Bilet Lotniskowy also covers ZTM buses, trams, metro and SKM in zone 1 for 75 minutes from the time you write on it.
  • A rail line straight to the terminal (line 247, about 5.5 km) is planned for around 2029.

Modlin Airport has no railway station of its own, so getting to Warsaw by public transport means a Koleje Mazowieckie (KM) shuttle bus to Modlin station, then a KM train into the city. KM sells a ticket made for the route, the Bilet Lotniskowy (airport ticket). Its price of 22.40 PLN (zł) comes from the KM tariff of 2022 and we could not confirm the 2026 figure, so check it before you travel (as of October 2026).

2KM train from Modlin station into WarsawRL to Chopin Airport takes about 67 minutes in total

Koleje Mazowieckie is the regional rail company of the Mazowieckie province, separate from ZTM, which runs Warsaw's city transport. That is why the airport ticket is a KM product rather than a ZTM one.

The bus to Modlin station

Modlin railway station lies a few kilometres from the airport terminal, and KM runs a bus between the two, timed to meet the trains. A report from August 2026 says the buses usually run twice an hour, because they connect with RL trains towards Chopin Airport as well as other KM services, for example towards Warszawa Gdańska.

With luggage, give yourself extra time for the change, especially on the way to the airport.

The train into Warsaw

KM's RL line runs from Modlin station right through Warsaw to Chopin Airport. The whole run takes about 67 minutes, with trains roughly once an hour. Other KM trains from Modlin also call at Warsaw stations, so check the current KM timetable for the one that suits you.

How long in Warsaw75 minutes from the time you write on the ticket

The Warsaw part works differently from ordinary ZTM tickets. Before you board a city bus, tram or train, write on the ticket, clearly and indelibly, the time from which the 75 minutes should count. If the ticket turns out not to be valid at a check, you are treated as travelling without one, and the inspector marks it with the date, time, signature and stamp so that no new time can be written on it.

For the metro, use the lifts down to the platforms, or pick up a free metro entry pass (wejściówka) at a ZTM Passenger Service Point (Punkt Obsługi Pasażerów).

Before you fly, check the Koleje Mazowieckie website for the current price, where to buy the ticket and its exact conditions.

Continuing in Warsaw

Once you reach the city, you are on the ZTM network. If you need more than the 75 minutes included in the Bilet Lotniskowy, a single 75-minute ZTM ticket costs 4.40 PLN and a 24-hour pass 15 PLN in zone 1. See our guide to Warsaw tickets for all prices and for how to validate app tickets with a QR code. Luggage travels free on ZTM buses, trams and metro; see bikes, luggage and dogs.

The Gdzie Jest Kanar app shows live departures for Warsaw buses, trams and the metro and is available in English (about the app).

What is changing: a train to the terminal

PKP PLK, the national rail infrastructure company, is building line 247 from Modlin station to the airport: about 5.5 km of double-track electrified railway with a station right by the terminal. The target date is around 2029. The plan published in August 2026 envisages trains between Modlin Airport and Chopin Airport every 30 minutes on average. Until then, it is the bus to Modlin station.
