Getting home at night in Warsaw: night buses (N lines), the hub at Centralna and late metro
Correct as of , checked
In short
- Warsaw runs 42 night bus lines; their numbers start with N, for example N32.
- Night buses meet at the hub by Warszawa Centralna (Dworzec Centralny) and leave it together at :15 and :45.
- Each night line runs every 30 or 60 minutes, so a missed bus can mean a long wait.
- On Friday and Saturday nights the metro runs until about 3:00.
- Normal ZTM tickets are valid at night: a 75-minute ticket costs 4.40 PLN.
Warsaw has 42 night bus lines, all marked with the letter N, and they meet at a central hub by Warszawa Centralna station, leaving it together at :15 and :45 past the hour. On Friday and Saturday nights the metro also runs until about 3:00 (as of October 2026). A normal 75-minute ticket for 4.40 PLN (zł) is valid on night buses too.
How the night network works
When the day network winds down, night buses take over. The whole system rests on a timed meeting point in the city centre.
| Feature | How it works |
|---|---|
| Number of lines | 42 night lines, numbered with N (for example N32) |
| Hub | Dworzec Centralny, next to Warszawa Centralna railway station |
| Departures from the hub | together at :15 and :45 past the hour |
| Frequency | every 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the line |
| Tickets | the same ZTM tickets as by day |
Because the lines leave the hub at the same set times, you can change between night buses there without a long wait. If you are coming in from the edge of the city, your bus drops you at the hub, and the night lines to other districts leave from there at :15 and :45.
The metro at night
On Friday and Saturday nights, the metro (lines M1 and M2) runs until about 3:00. After a weekend night out it is often the quickest way home, especially along the M1 north to south and along the M2 across the river.
On other nights the metro closes earlier, so check the last train for your station before you rely on it. Once the last train has gone, public transport means night buses.
Which ticket to use at night
Night lines use the normal ZTM tickets. The 24-hour pass is valid on all lines, and 30-day and 90-day tickets cover day and night lines alike.
| Ticket | Price | Tip for the night |
|---|---|---|
| 75-minute, zone 1 | 4.40 PLN | enough for most trips home, including a change at the hub |
| 20-minute, zones 1+2 | 3.40 PLN | only for short hops |
| 24-hour, zone 1 | 15 PLN | buy it in the evening and it still covers the ride home |
| Weekend, zones 1+2 | 24 PLN | runs from Friday 19:00 to Monday 8:00, so it covers both weekend nights |
| Weekend group, up to 5 people | 40 PLN | covers day and night lines for a group of friends |
Validate a paper ticket right after boarding. For an app ticket, scan the QR code inside the bus. If your ticket is in an app, save some battery for the ride home: inspectors make no exception for a dead phone. The full price list is in our guide to Warsaw tickets.
From the airport at night
If you land late at Chopin Airport, night bus N32 takes you to Dworzec Centralny, the hub of the night network. From there you can change to the night line for your district. More options in our guide to Chopin Airport to the city centre.
Planning your way home
- Before you go out, look up the night line that serves your street and the time it leaves the hub.
- If you are near a metro station on a Friday or Saturday, check whether the metro gets you home before about 3:00.
- If you need to change, plan to be at the hub by :15 or :45.
- Buy and validate your ticket before you board.
The Gdzie Jest Kanar app shows live departures, including night lines, and is available in English (about the app). Live data helps when a night bus is late, because the next one may be half an hour or more away.
